Join Friday Memorial Library's digital Summer Reading Program by registering at newrichmondlibrary.beanstack.org or on the Beanstack app. Earn digital badges and tickets to use toward prize drawings.

How to Register

  • Click Register an Individual or Family or Sign In if you already have a Beanstack account
  • Follow the prompts to get yourself and your family members registered for 2021 Summer Reading Challenges
  • Start logging your reading and completing activities beginning June 14
  • Earn badges to motivate and tickets to put toward prizes

Using the Beanstack Tracker App

  • Download the Beanstack app (available through the App Store or Play Store)
  • Select Let's Go
  •  Choose School, Library or Bookstore for Organization Type
  • Select Find a Site and search for Friday Memorial Library
  • Select Don’t Have an Account? Sign Up at the bottom of the screen or sign in if you already have a Beanstack account. 
  • Follow the prompts to get yourself and your family members register for the 2021 Summer Reading Challenges
  • Start logging your reading and completing activities beginning June 14
  • Earn badges to motivate and tickets to put toward prizes

 

Youth Summer Reading: Ages 0-11

Reading colors your world this summer at Friday Memorial Library! Log minutes read and complete activities through Beanstack to earn digital badges and tickets to put toward prizes. Complete the program by reading 800 minutes between June 14 - August 7 and earn a free book. All prizes will be awarded at the end of the program.

Mayor's Reading Challenge: Ages 5-11

Mayor Fred has an extra challenge for readers age 5 to 11 this summer. Sponsored by FNC Bank.

Babytime: Tuesdays at 10:00 am in Mary Park

An infant and toddler storytime for ages 6 to 24 months. 


Reading & Recreation: Thursdays at 10:00 am in Mary Park

An outdoor storytime featuring stories, songs and activities for ages 2 to 5.

 

Art in the Park: select Wednesday afternoons

Art in the Park is offered in sessions at 2:00, 3:00 & 4:00 pm, with a limited number of participants per session. You must register to attend. Art in the Park will be in Glover Park unless otherwise noted. Check our calendar for details.

Movies in the Park

Movies in the Park will begin at dusk in Glover Park. In the case of inclement weather, the movie will be canceled. Check our calendar for details.

Teen Summer Reading: Ages 12-18

Teens read the world this summer! Log books read and complete activities through Beanstack to earn digital badges and tickets to put toward prizes. Complete the program by reading four books between June 14 - August 7 and earn a free book, read four additional books to earn a second free book. All prizes will be awarded at the end of the program.

Teens Taste the World

Teens are invited to stop by the Youth Services Desk to experience the flavors of different countries. Drop in anytime on select days.

Adult Summer Reading: Ages 18+

Adults can color their world this summer too! Log books read and complete activities through Beanstack to earn digital badges and tickets to put toward prizes. Complete the program by reading six books between June 14 - August 7 and earn a free book. Read extra books to earn additional tickets. All prizes will be awarded at the end of the program.

Canvas Paint Pouring: Thursday, July 15 at 5:00 pm

Shibori: Thursday, August 12 at 5:00 pm

 

Planting for Pollinators: Tuesday, June 22 at 3:00 pm or 4:30 pm Registration Required

Learn about plants that are great for bees and butterflies, for either a container or flower garden. Find out the basics of planting for pollinators and bring home an Asclepias plant. Sponsored by the St. Croix Valley Master Gardner Association.

 

Pickleball Clinc: Thursday, July 8 at 4:00 pm at the Mary Park Courts Registration Required 

Let’s Learn Pickleball!  Sounds like a funny name, but Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the U.S., and it’s even being played professionally.  It’s a fun and social game that some call a mix of tennis, racquetball, and ping pong. Learn how to serve, return, score and even some basic strategies.  We’ll have you playing doubles in less than two hours!

 

B.Y.O.B. - Bring Your Own Book: Thursday, July 29 at 2:00 pm in Glover Park Registration Required 

Join in talking about what you are reading right now. We will share what we like about what we are reading and enjoy dessert. Come relax and learn some new titles to read.

 

The Simplicity of Air Plants: Wednesday, August 4 at 3:00 pm Registration Required 

Come learn about the new, easy to care for plant. In this class you will learn the different types of air plants and how to take care of them. And of course bring your very own air plant.
